If you’ve just signed in to Clipchamp and can’t find where to manage your profile, plan, privacy, or export settings, start with the profile menu in the top corner. That’s where Clipchamp account settings usually live in the web app, [while the Microsoft 365](https://todayfixtech.com/customizing-microsoft-365-dashboard/) or Windows experience may send you to your Microsoft account page instead. Most export and project controls are not in account settings at all, so it helps to separate account-level changes from editor settings before you start looking.

## Where Clipchamp hides account settings

Before you start, make sure you’re signed in to the account you want to change. You’ll also need access to the same browser or app session where Clipchamp is already open.

- If you use Clipchamp in a browser, open Clipchamp and look for your profile icon or initials in the top-right corner.
- Open that menu and look for an option like `Settings`, `Account settings`, `My account`, or `Microsoft account`.
- If you use Clipchamp through Microsoft 365, the account controls may be tied to your Microsoft 365 profile. In that case, open the app launcher, your profile menu, or the Microsoft account area rather than searching inside the editor toolbar.
- If you use Clipchamp in Windows, the app often sends you to your Microsoft account page in the browser for anything related to profile, subscription, or privacy.

If you are not sure which screen you are on, use this rule of thumb: changes that affect who you are, what plan you have, [or what Microsoft stores](https://todayfixtech.com/microsoft-365-updates-features/) about your account belong in the account area. Changes that affect one video project belong in the editor.

Typical paths look like this:

```text
Clipchamp top-right profile menu > Settings
Microsoft 365 profile menu > My Microsoft account
Windows Clipchamp app > profile or account link > browser account page
```

Settings path

If you do not see a settings item in the app, open your Microsoft account from the profile menu first, then come back to Clipchamp after the change.

## What you can change from your account page

The account page is for settings that follow your sign-in, not one video or one editing session. The exact options depend on your account type, but these are the ones most users look for.

Profile details usually include your name, profile photo, and sometimes the email address tied to the Microsoft account. If your display name is wrong, update it there and then refresh Clipchamp so the new name appears in the app.

Language settings are often tied to your Microsoft account or browser language rather than the video editor itself. If Clipchamp is showing the wrong language, change the account language if that option exists, then sign out and back in. If there is no account-level language control, check your browser or Microsoft profile language settings.

Privacy settings are where you control things like Microsoft communication preferences, ad or personalization choices, and other account-level permissions that may be available to your account type. Some business-managed accounts won’t let you change every privacy option yourself.

Notifications may cover product emails, billing alerts, or account notices. If you want fewer emails from Microsoft or Clipchamp, this is the place to look. The labels vary, so watch for terms like `notifications`, `communications`, `email preferences`, or `marketing preferences`.

Plan or billing settings are only available if your account has a paid subscription or a plan Microsoft lets you manage directly. Look for plan details, renewals, invoices, or payment methods. If Clipchamp came with your work or school account, billing may be controlled by your organization instead of you.

If you are trying to change export behavior, check the editor instead of the account page. Export quality, file format choices, and project-specific options are usually project or editor settings, not account settings. The account area may show what plan affects export features, but it usually won’t control one export’s settings.

### Editor settings versus account settings

Use the account area for anything tied to your Microsoft sign-in, such as profile, language, privacy, notifications, and plan or billing-related settings.

Use the editor for things tied to a single project, including export quality, file format choices, and other project settings. If you are looking for a control and it only changes one video, you are probably in the wrong place.

## Why your settings screen may look different

Clipchamp does not show the same account page to everyone. The screen changes based on how you signed in and who controls the account.

A personal Microsoft account usually gives you the most direct access to profile, language, and communication settings. Even then, some options may still be spread across Microsoft account pages rather than sitting inside Clipchamp itself.

A Microsoft 365 account can look different because Microsoft 365 may put the account controls in a shared Microsoft profile experience. You might see work or school branding, different labels, or fewer personal options. If your organization manages the account, you may not be allowed to edit billing, privacy, or profile details on your own.

A business-managed or school-managed account often hides parts of the account page completely. That does not necessarily mean something is broken. It usually means your admin has limited what you can change. In those cases, the missing option is not in the wrong place; it is just not available to your account type.

If the page looks different from a help article, check the account type first. A screenshot from a personal account can be misleading if you are using a work account. The same goes for plan settings: if your organization pays for Clipchamp or Microsoft 365, you may only see the plan status, not the billing controls.

## How to confirm the change actually saved

After you change a setting, confirm it from the same account page before you move on.

1. Reload the page and check whether the new value is still there.
2. If the change affects your name, photo, language, or communication preferences, sign out of Clipchamp and sign back in.
3. Open the same account setting again and make sure the updated value is still selected.
4. If the setting affects how Clipchamp looks in the editor, return to the editor and refresh the page.
5. For billing or plan changes, check the plan area again to make sure the updated status appears.

If the value keeps snapping back, the change probably did not save, or another system is overriding it. That happens more often with work or school accounts, where admin settings can win over your personal choice.

## What to do if account settings won’t open

If the settings page is blank, missing, or refuses to save, start with the simplest browser checks.

- Refresh the page and try again.
- Sign out of Clipchamp, then sign back in.
- Open Clipchamp in a different browser window or a private browsing window.
- Make sure third-party cookies or tracking protection are not blocking Microsoft sign-in pages.
- Clear the site data for Clipchamp and Microsoft sign-in if the page keeps looping or loading blank.
- Turn off extensions that may block scripts, pop-ups, or account pages.
- If you are on a work or school account, ask whether your admin has disabled the setting you are trying to change.

If the menu item itself is missing, check whether you are inside the editor rather than the account area. Clipchamp can show editor controls, project controls, and account controls in different places, and it is easy to open the wrong one.

If the page loads but will not save, try a different browser first. That helps separate a browser problem from an account problem. If the same setting still will not save in another browser, the issue is more likely tied to the account type or Microsoft service status.

If none of that works, open the Microsoft account area directly from your profile menu and see whether the same option appears there. If it does not, the setting may not be available for your account type at all.

## Conclusion

Once you know where the account menu lives, Clipchamp is much easier to manage. Use the profile menu for account-level changes, use the editor for project-level changes, and expect the screen to vary if you are on a personal, Microsoft 365, or organization-managed account. If a setting still is not there after you sign out and back in, that usually points to account type limits rather than a hidden option. If you want to keep troubleshooting, check the same setting in the Microsoft account area or confirm whether your admin controls it.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Why can’t I find billing settings in Clipchamp?

Billing settings only appear if your account type supports them. If your Clipchamp access comes through Microsoft 365 or a work or school account, billing may be handled by your organization instead of by you.

### Are export settings part of Clipchamp account settings?

Usually no. Export quality, file format choices, and similar options are typically project or editor settings, not account settings. Your account page may show plan features that affect exports, but it usually will not control one project’s export options.

### Why does Clipchamp show a different settings page than the help article?

The page can change based on your account type, region, and whether you signed in with a personal, Microsoft 365, or managed work or school account. Help articles often show one version of the page, but not every user sees the same layout.

### What if I changed my profile name but Clipchamp still shows the old one?

Reload the page, sign out, and sign back in. If the old name still appears, the change may not have synced yet, or the account area you updated may not be the same one Clipchamp is reading from.
